NEED AN ESTATE OR BUSINESS LIQUIDATION!
WHEN LOOKING FOR AN AUCTION HOUSE OR ESTATE SALE COMPANY, MAKE SURE THEY PROVIDE YOU WITH THE FOLLOWING:
1. Make sure they have a valid business licenses; ask for a copy.
2. Make sure they have a valid tax resale certificate and sales tax is collected and paid; ask for a copy.
3. Make sure they are bonded and insured; ask for a copy
4. If they provide an itemized inventory of items sold, or just a lump sum with no inventory paperwork.
5. What their advertising consists of – Where do they advertise, i.e. newspaper, internet, website, emails, etc.
6. If they conduct the sale for 1, 2, or 3 days, and
7. What do they do with the remaining unsold items - sell them, donate them, or keep them as part of their fee. Your remaining unsold items can be sold to a wholesale buyer or they can be donated to a charity as a tax deductIble donation.
Choose your Estate Sale / Auction Company wisely, this is one time you can't have a "DO OVER" if unhappy with your results.
